Macquarie is a global provider of banking, financial, advisory and funds management services. By combining entrepreneurial drive and robust risk management with deep industry expertise, Macquarie uncovers opportunities that others miss.

We're looking for a Senior Technologist who can provide deep insight into how technology will influence the energy, transport and infrastructure sectors and apply that insight to how technology will disrupt the utilisation and valuation of Macquarie's investments in those sectors.

You will identify operational opportunities to deploy new technology into more than 100 existing businesses within the Macquarie portfolio - from toll roads to airports to utilities to critical infrastructure. You will also advise the Group on how technology will impact potential investments and support wider opportunity identification due to emerging technology disruption. You will be supported in this task by a global team of technology and asset management specialists.

The scope of this role is global and will span all sectors listed above, and you will bring deep expertise in one or more of the sectors. Our current focus is on London-based roles.

Your prior experience will combine strong commercial skills with a deep expertise in relevant emerging technologies such as IoT, machine learning, autonomous vehicles, energy efficient solutions, smart grids and distributed manufacturing. You will have established relationships with key market participants, innovators and technology developers, and be able to influence at CxO level.

In addition to your technology expertise and network, you will also have:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability and credibility to influence senior management across the business
  • A ready ability to deliver outcomes, both through others (operating at 'arms length' via portfolio businesses) and as an individual ('rolling up your sleeves')
  • The empathy to work across cultures, maintain effective working relationships and foster an inclusive working environment
  • High levels of self-motivation and a learning mindset
  • Strong judgement, the tenacity to drive change, and the ability to manage multiple priorities

While the focus of this opportunity is on portfolio businesses within the energy, transport and infrastructure sectors, it would be an advantage to have previous experience of applying your knowledge within private equity or asset management.
