An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Junior Reporter to join the team at the Irvine Herald. You will be diligent and ambitious with the drive to deliver great content and generate compelling content and ideas. Along with this, you'll have the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and be determined to make a name for yourself in the industry.



Other Responsibilities

  • Delivering high-quality, thoroughly-researched, accurate and well-written content for both our print and digital audience.
  • Writing content in a way which engages and drives digital audience.
  • Building strong contacts for story-gathering within local communities.
  • Being adept at social media to build audiences and communities and ensure that content is shared on social platforms.


  • The Ideal Candidate

  • Possess a thorough, up-to-date knowledge of media law and industry guidelines.
  • Have a NCTJ-accredited journalism qualification.
  • Understand of all the storytelling requirements of a newsroom.
  • Have excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Be able to demonstrate brilliant ideas for engaging and shareable content.
  • Be motivated by the challenge of producing stories ready for digital audience, as well as our print edition.
  • Ability to work well independently, using your own initiative as well as within a team
