Shipping Finance Lawyer, London

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Shipping Finance Lawyer to join our London based legal team of Macquarie Specialised Investment Solutions (MSIS), a business division of Macquarie Asset Management (MAM).

Reporting to the Head of Legal (EMEA) for MSIS, you will be responsible for providing integrated legal support to MSIS with a particular focus on shipping finance.

You will be responsible for:

• Assisting with the execution of shipping finance and ECA (export credit agency) debt transactions
• Maintaining close interaction with deal originators, product managers, distribution and execution teams based in London and Zurich
• Managing the legal risk on transactions
• Direct negotiation with finance counterparties
• Coordinating with external counsel; and
• Developing internal know how on relevant documentation and policies

About you

You will have:

• 4 to 6 years PQE relevant legal experience in the finance group of a major law firm or an in-house legal role at a financial institution
• Shipping finance experience
• ECA (export credit agency) debt experience would be an advantage
• High levels of motivation coupled with strong analytical skills and the ability to manage competing projects and provide advice in a timely manner
• Enjoy working in a fast paced, dynamic environment
• The ability to take responsibility for your transactions whilst working effectively as part of a high performing team; and
• Another European language, in particular German, would be an advantage
