Summary of Role:
The Weapons area primarily supports the design, development, production and integration activities associated with the Paveway??? IV Weapon System. The Engineering Team also undertakes numerous development studies and investigation activities involving weapon performance and platform interfacing.
There is an opportunity for someone to join the Weapons team as a Senior Systems Engineer supporting the business across a range of programmes.
This role is ideally suited to an engineer with some experience of weapon systems, in particular within a service support role.
The role will be based at Raytheon's Harlow facility and the successful applicant will report directly to the Systems Lead. The successful candidate will have access to professional development opportunities and be part of the growing Defence Business in Raytheon UK, delivering engineering expertise across a wide range of projects to both military and civil customers worldwide.
Main Duties:
The successful applicant will support the Weapons Team across various programmes which will include the following main duties:
. Act as engineering lead providing support to the Programme Manager for the day to day in service support to the Paveway family including:
. Technical queries
. Fault investigations
. Liaising with internal SMEs to ensure that work packages are executed in line with programme qualification and technical requirements
. Provide engineering support to tasking including:
. Support to trials and testing
. Weapon assembly / dis-assembly, on completion of the appropriate training
. Giving advice on spares and repairs
. Maintenance and update of technical publications
. Support tasking associated with ISS and Paveway integration
. Support tasking associated with ISS for other Raytheon weapon systems
. Provide support to the Weapons Repair and Maintenance facility
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
. Proven experience in the handling of weapon systems
. Ability to converse with Suppliers / Customers on a technical level
. Willing and able to travel throughout UK and internationally
. Experience of analysing and reporting on technical data and authoring technical reports
. Knowledge of the specifications pertaining to the use of weapon systems in service
. Knowledge of MoD Operating processes / procedures
. Demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills
. Experience in the development of pricing estimates for future opportunities
. Eligible or holder of current SC security clearance
. UK national without dual nationality
Desirable:
. Degree in a STEM subject
. Knowledge of ITAR and associated licensing
. Weapon Systems domain knowledge and/or experience
. Experience with conducting trials at external Test facilities
. Experience of planning, estimating and defining engineering tasks
