Macquarie Capital's London based Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) team has an opportunity for an asset manager to oversee our principal investments portfolio in the renewable and mid-stream energy infra space.

As an asset manager, your key responsibilities will include:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Working with MacCap PPM investment team during the origination, ownership and divestment of assets to ensure that effective asset management adds to the success and profitability of each transaction;
  • Attend asset level board meetings and support Macquarie Capital (and where relevant co-investor) board members with information and analysis to make decisions related to the financial management of assets;
  • Overseeing the financial performance of assets, including monitoring monthly reports and management accounts and updating Macquarie's Principal Investments Management System (PIMS);
  • Where relevant, reporting to Macquarie Capital co-investors on asset financial performance or provide updates on any proposed changes to debt financing or hedging arrangements;
  • Managing asset cashflow requirements including ensuring monthly drawdown / funding requests are met for projects in construction (including liaising with the global deal management team to raise drawdown approvals on our Document Approval System (DAS));
  • Managing and optimising asset / investor level hedging, including FX, interest rate and inflation swaps. Looking at future hedging requirements and working with lenders / hedging banks to roll-forward or cancel hedging as required. Identifying opportunities to place new hedging at attractive rates or settle in the money hedging that is surplus to requirements;
  • Overseeing asset level management teams and working with management teams to ensure best practice is implemented in terms of accounting, financial management and financial reporting and tax filing;
  • Overseeing third party SPV management/company secretarial teams to ensure contractor is delivering in accordance with the terms of their contract, including the quality of reporting and board meeting minutes and agendas remains high and financial reporting and tax filing is accurate. Where required identify any changes required to the scope of these services; and
  • Develop strong working relationships with the project finance lender agency teams and debt portfolio managers in order to ensure that assets are meeting their obligations under the finance documents and any ad hoc waiver requests or amendments can be processed smoothly.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline such as Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Law or Engineering, and excellent pre-university academic results;
  • 6-10 years of experience in PE asset management, financial management or control of renewable energy projects or other energy sector investment, project finance, financial portfolio management, investment banking operations / financial management or a similar experience;
  • Familiarity with best practice for financial reporting and asset governance;
  • exposure to and or understanding of FX, interest rate and inflation hedging instruments, project finance, commercial debt finance and the related accounting;
  • Interest in or experience of the energy sector including renewable power, conventional power and/or the oil and gas sector;
  • have good team and people management skills;
  • have the ability to liaise at all levels;
  • First class organisational and time management skills;
  • Adept at problem solving and proven ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment;
  • Fluent spoken and written English ;
  • Proven commercial and business judgement skills;
  • Strong presentation skills, including Word and PowerPoint; and
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
