The Company:
Our client works with many of the UK’s leading brands – from John Lewis, M&S and Asda, to O2, River Island, and Arcadia.

They are proud to have won recent MRS and AURA awards following nominations from their clients, including being short-listed for Agency of the Year 2017 – evidence of their high standing in the industry.

Due to their continued success, they are now looking for a Senior Data Analyst, with the drive to work on challenging and high-profile projects

The Senior Data Analyst Role:
As the Senior Data Analyst, you will have the opportunity to develop your technical and management skills, while still getting hands-on experience with data processing techniques.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Data Analyst:

  • Extracting, processing and transforming data collected through market research into a variety of outputs, from Excel tables to dynamic reporting dashboards
  • Enhancing your skills in data processing for quant research: scripting surveys and running data tables – seeking out best practice to efficiently produce complex outputs to match specifications
  • Working across various pieces of technical software, providing logical and efficient solutions to problems, and designing and building new processes
  • From early on, you’ll be given responsibility for project managing data processing for high profile clients
  • Involved in supporting the training/mentoring and workload management of more junior team members
  • Opportunity to directly line manage members of the team, being responsible for their progress and development opportunities, supporting their growth and helping them do a great job
  • Input into the future direction of the team, with opportunities to build new techniques, test new software, and help define the best ways of integrating new challenges into our work
  • Work closely with multiple teams in the business, from the Insight researchers to the IT Development team to get complex projects up and off the ground
  • Opportunity to grow and develop within the team, working on statistics/analytics, working with Tibco Spotfire to produce complex reporting dashboards, or continued development of leadership and management skills

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a data processing team – preferably in a market research firm, including:
    • Scripting online surveys using routing and piping to ensure the best respondent experience, with a detailed knowledge of any industry standard software (eg: Snap Surveys, Confirmit, Askia, or similar)
    • Cleansing data and producing complex data tables from specifications using any industry standard software (eg: QPSMR, Merlin, Snap Surveys, or similar)
    • Experience working with a bulk email service provider (such as SendGrid or SmartFocus) desirable but not essential
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and VBA for Excel are absolutely essential – be able to process large amounts of data confidently using a variety of functions and formulas
  • Knowledge of any of the following a bonus but not essential: Spotfire, R, SPSS
  • Keen aptitude to identify process improvements and efficiencies, and the tech knowledge to find, build and test an automated and dynamic solution
  • Capacity to plan and prioritise effectively in order to manage your own and others’ work
  • Ability to work in a thorough, precise manner
  • A great team player
  • Fantastic communications skills
  • Keenness to develop people management skills – including training, mentoring, and managing ongoing performance and career development of more junior team members

Pay & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary of £26-36k Dependent on Experience plus performance-related bonus scheme
  • 28 Days holiday plus your birthday and bank holidays
  • Flexible working
  • Internal and external training courses – a commitment to your personal development
  • Buddy scheme, paid-for lunches and an interest-free season ticket loan
  • A generously funded social committee run by employees
  • St Albans location, just 20 minutes from central London and well connected to further afield
