*In order to apply for a secondment opportunity, you must have a permanent position within Plymouth City Council and have successfully completed your probation period. Employees should refer to the secondment policy before applying.

Plymouth City Council is now looking for someone to help co-ordinate and support a variety of projects that will benefit our post 16 skills and education agenda delivered though our Plan for Employment and Skills, Plan for Education and Post Sixteen Partnership work.

·         As the Post 16 Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for helping to turn ideas into finished solutions. You will lead projects of varying sizes with a focus on skills, employability and driving our post 16 work forward to the next level.

·         Day to day, you will work with local, regional and sometimes national stakeholders in a complex and overlapping market place to deliver work that will enable the city to deliver benefits for all of our adults and young people and also help to build on the work that has already been undertaken.

·         To thrive in this role, you should have strong relationship management skills combined with the ability to influence others and see the bigger picture. We need someone who can work as part of a team but also motivate people though the work they do externally and strive for excellence.

·         Whilst experience of local government is desirable, it is not essential. More important is your ability to deliver projects and ideally from within the post sixteen education and skills landscape. You will also have proven public sector contract management skills and previous experience of the Ofsted inspection framework.

This role is offered initially on a fixed term basis for one year with potential to extend. Secondments may also be considered.

At Plymouth City Council, we offer a work environment which is stimulating, fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high profile organisation.
