Part Time Science Technician

Main Duties/Responsibilities

• To prepare equipment for specific lessons, to be used by staff and students, and to tidy equipment and materials at end of lessons;
• To order, take delivery of and regulate the stock of equipment and consumables required by the area;
• To apply the school's health and safety policy to the science area and to advise staff on health and safety matters where necessary;
• To be aware of safety procedures and work in compliance with their requirements, such as the use of protective safety clothing;
• To repair equipment where this is possible and within safety regulations;
• Perform any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Director of Science;
• Participate in appraisal and professional development as appropriate;
• Carry out their duties with the due regard to the school's policies on equal opportunities, health and safety and quality assurance;
• This job description sets out the duties of the post at the time it was drawn up. The post holder may be required from time to time to undertake other duties within the school as may be reasonably expected, without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed. This is a common occurrence and would not justify a reconsideration of the grading of the post.
