Do you want to support a College which provides young people and adults with the technical and personal skills they need to succeed? Behaviour Support Officers provide a holistic approach to the learner experience, ensuring that the personal development, behaviour and welfare of the learners and staff is addressed.

You will have an understanding of behavioural safety management principles and be able to apply these to inform and educate, relate to and build relationships with a diverse range of young individuals. You will constantly be observing behaviour and drawing on a range of tools and techniques to promote and safeguard the welfare of the children and young persons you are responsible for or come into contact with, and you will need to be able to demonstrate a motivation to work with children and young people. Therefore, excellent interpersonal & communication skills are essential along with the ability to adapt to any given situation.

Confident to challenge, your positive attitude will support you in building rapport & motivating others. You will need to be customer focused, have a friendly yet professional and respectful approach which demonstrates support and shows mutual respect. You will need to be open, honest and an active listener who takes responsibility and accountability.  You will have a “can do” attitude, be participative, trusting and achieve expectations.

Based in Stoke on Trent with easy transport links to the North West, West Midlands and East Midlands, Stoke on Trent College is the largest provider of further education in Stoke and North Staffordshire, with around 10,000 students each year on full-time and part-time study programmes, apprenticeships, professional qualifications and university-level courses.
