Trainee Applications Engineer (Refrigeration Design)

Job Details:

Reports to Design Manager
Hours of work 37 hours per week (Monday - Friday) generally between 9 - 5 with a one-hour unpaid lunch break.
Salary Bracket £18k to £20k, depending on experience
Design Department - Ipswich.

This is a trainee role, and fully expensed training will be provided.
As part of your training, you will be working towards the role detailed below over a 3 to 4 year period.

Main Purpose and Scope of the job

As an Applications Engineer, you would be required to support the refrigeration design requirements across various accounts, from desktop studies to selecting & sizing of equipment. You will be communicating with the projects team & Design Engineer understanding their requirements and challenges and how we as a company can support and provide a solution.

Your responsibilities will include;

* Understanding of the Client's specification(s)
* Understanding of Client's Portal's.
* Overseeing all detailed design, alongside Design Engineer, making sure the correct information is issued.
* Heat loss calculations.
* Selection of evaporators, display cabinets & plant etc
* Obtain quotations from OEM suppliers
* Provide detailed refrigeration design for new and refurbishment projects.
* Carry out desktop studies
* Report Writing
* Provide financial support and advice for equipment and projects.
* Micropipe, MicroCalc, Mistral and Manufacturer software's - Copeland, Bitzer, Kelvion, etc
* Use Excel tools to calculate energy usage, leak detection & ventilation requirements etc
* Analyse data
* Identify information being using on different accounts which be of could benefit
* Working to British (BS), European (EN) and other standards, ensuring compliance to the latest regulations.
* Attend weekly team meetings
* Attend site/meetings alongside Design Engineer when required
* Complete design risk assessments
