Job Purpose

As part of the legal separation programme, the new business will have a specific licence with new obligations to ensure sufficient separation between the System operator and other Group business. This role will support the establishment of the required compliance capabilities within the business to ensure that our client are compliant from Day One (April 2019) by delivering a comprehensive compliance programme for example providing policies on data assurance, shared services arrangement etc.

Key Accountabilities

The scope of the role will be to support to

  • Develop the licence as compliance
  • Review and allocate the existing and new licence obligations and consents
  • Design and produce the Compliance Statement and annual report for
  • Translate the licence obligations into business policies and rules and provide guidance to the business to comply with the policies (eg information sharing/access, employee on/off-boarding, cooling off, training arrangement for ETPs and graduate).
  • Design and deliver an effective and engaging communications and training programme on business separation for and the rest of
  • Provide advice and information to the Director of and in waiting for compliance performance.
  • Monitoring effectiveness of the proposed compliance control framework (ie practices, procedures and systems adopted to secure compliance with the licence) recommending remedial action (where necessary) ahead of formal separation.

Knowledge, Experience and Technical Know How

Experience:

  • Working in a compliance or similar regulatory role
  • The ability to interpret written rules and obligations and deliver pragmatic solutions.
  • Experience of effectively managing relationships with team members and stakeholders and working collaboratively to deliver solutions.
  • Experience of creating departmental priorities which align to the strategic direction of the wider business.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading teams and influencing stakeholders at senior levels and gaining support and commitment from a broad group.
  • Collaboration within multidiscipline or virtual teams to deliver solutions
  • Ability to create quality Powerpoint deliverables and stakeholder materials

Technical Know How:

  • Relevant professional qualification or suitable equivalent experience in business conduct and ethical behaviour.
  • A good working understanding of National Grid's licences and regulatory framework
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail of commercial relationships, cost behaviours and pricing strategies design and delivery
  • The ability to interpret written rules and obligations and deliver pragmatic solutions.
  • Excellent skills in PowerPoint, Excel, Word and SharePoint
