Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor? Do you have experience in a QS role in the Highways, Rail or Civils sectors? Due to expansion, Kingscroft have been asked to recruit for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing Commercial team in the South/East Midlands, specifically covering the Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Northampton & Leicester areas. My client are one of the UK leaders in providing highway maintenance to the UK's local authority. Working within the contracting department will mean that travel between different regions will be required, but a competitive salary along with a company car and fuel will be provided for the right candidate. My client are ideally looking for a Quantity Surveyor who has experience within highways, groundworks or structures with relevant qualifications to back up experience. The Duties of a Quantity Surveyor include:
  • Provide contractual and commercial advice to the operational team on site to support them in their decision making.
  • Contract change control
  • Subcontract procurement
  • Subcontract Management
  • Negotiate and communicate effectively with internal and external companies
  • Administration of payments
  • Prepare valuations and applications for payment in accordance with the form of contract
  • Measurement of works on site and from drawings
  • Prepare and present commercial reports, cost plans and cash flow forecasts for senior managers
Candidates must have good interpersonal skills and show a willingness to work flexibly and undertake a range of tasks. Experience or knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts is desirable, as is experience gained within the construction industry, preferably in highways, groundworks and or structures. Formal qualifications are not essential, however qualifications in a related subject would be advantageous e.g. Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent. Also good IT skills will be required for the role. Due to the need to travel to other offices, a full UK driving licence is essential. For the right candidate a company car and fuel will be part of the package. Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications, but will be very competitive.
