The Opportunity
Are you looking to join a forward-thinking engineering team with passion for delivering prestigious local projects and exciting developments nationwide and overseas?
PBA is an organisation that is working on exciting projects such as the redevelopment of Paradise Circus in the centre of Birmingham and we're delivering technical assessments of Driver Experience Centres and motorsport venues in both the UK and overseas.
So, if you have the passion and enthusiasm to be part of our success then we would love to hear from you.
Brief insight into the team's recent successes
PBA's Birmingham Infrastructure team has been going from strength to strength since the team was established 4 years ago. A number of exciting and challenging schemes have helped the team to grow to its current size, creating a solid base for future growth and diversification.
One of the most significant schemes over this period has been the design and construction of the highway changes associated with the Paradise development in central Birmingham. Following on from providing transport planning services to achieve successful planning application, we were engaged to provide fully detailed designs for all highway works, including pavement design, drainage, retaining structures, access to utility tunnels and buried plantrooms, lighting, signals and so forth. We assisted the developer in tendering the works, and then administered the NEC3 contract on behalf of the client. This GBP13M scheme has proved the catalyst for the wider GBP600M development scheme, which is continuing at pace. Due to our knowledge, we continue to advise the client on the development proposals where these interface with the highway and a proposed metro scheme.
Other schemes that continue to push our expertise include a new relief road in the Midlands, including a major bridge and viaduct totalling some 900m spanning a major river and associated floodplain, to support a major new Garden Village development.
We do, however, not just restrict ourselves to traditional highway schemes in the UK. Other just as exciting and challenging schemes included design work for Cycle Revolution schemes in both Birmingham and Glasgow, balancing the needs and desires of both cyclists and motorists. And then there are high-powered pursuits including Driver Experience Centres and motorsport venues in both the UK and overseas. Working closely with designers in the UK and overseas we provide all engineering and design support to create unique and exhilarating destinations.
Key responsibilities / Duties will include:
Support and lead the production of Drainage and Highway designs and provision for all types and scales of development projects
Delegate and manage the CAD and technician resource in the delivery of outputs to agreed deadlines
