Video Journalist - Truro/Exeter

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Video Journalist to join the team at Exeter and Truro. We are seeking a candidate who will source, write and deliver unique and compelling content, which engages well with our audience across a range of digital platforms.
Main Responsibilities
- Building and maintaining strong contacts for story gathering within local communities
- Delivering high quality, thoroughly researched, accurate and well-written multimedia content packages on a daily basis as directed by the content desk
- Providing live coverage of news events for live blogs and breaking news as and when required
- Shooting video, audio and pictures
- Providing live coverage of news events for live blogs and breaking news as and when required
- Sourcing third party content, including blogs, video, audio and pictures, where appropriate to add value to content packages
- Taking responsibility for themes of content, such as geographic areas, campaigns or other areas of interest, as directed by the content desk
- Maintaining an active presence on social media in order to increase exposure and build contacts
- Use search analytics to identify a digital audience and content trends
Ideal Candidate
- Possess a thorough, up to date knowledge of media law and PCC code
- Be able to shoot and edit video and audio
- Possess a Trinity Mirror or equivalent journalist qualification (or relevant time-served experience)
- Have a good understanding of how content is shared and promoted through social media an up to date legal knowledge
- Demonstrate excellent writing skills and experience writing professionally
- Have an awareness and understanding of how to use SEO techniques to maximise content exposure
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Have a flexible approach to shifts
- Possess a full Driving Licence
