Job Purpose

As part of the legal separation programme, the new business will need to be established with a specific licence, new governance structure and business arrangements to ensure sufficient separation between the and other Group business.

This role will support the establishment of governance, development and implementation of licence and compliance capabilities within the business to ensure readiness for separation.

Key Accountabilities

The scope of the role will be to support Corporate & Regulatory Manager to

  • liaise with senior leadership team, Legal and UK Regulation, to develop the detailed arrangement for the governance, including for the governance bodies, the proposal for the proceedings of the meetings
  • lead and coordinate a suite of compliance trainings for the business covering the end to end process including designing, implementing and tracking, working closely with Group Assurance
  • liaise with Shared Services eg Finance, Corporate Affairs, Legal, UK Regulation, Information Services, Procurement, Property, HR to work out the detailed arrangement to support business whilst demonstrating compliance and delivering efficiency.
  • Provide the details of the governance, shared services and compliance training arrangement into the compliance statement
  • Involve in licence development and implementation

Knowledge, Experience and Technical Know How

Experience:

  • Working in a compliance or similar regulatory role
  • The ability to interpret written rules and obligations and deliver pragmatic solutions.
  • Experience of effectively managing relationships with team members and stakeholders and working collaboratively to deliver solutions.
  • Experience of creating departmental priorities which align to the strategic direction of the wider business.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading teams and influencing stakeholders at senior levels and gaining support and commitment from a broad group.
  • Collaboration within multidiscipline or virtual teams to deliver solutions
  • Ability to create quality Powerpoint and Word deliverables

Technical Know How:

  • A good working understanding of National Grid's licences and regulatory framework
  • The ability to interpret written rules and obligations and deliver pragmatic solutions.
  • Excellent skills in PowerPoint, Excel, Word and SharePoint

Qualifications

Essential (at appointment):

Degree level qualification or relevant experience
