Position: Support Services Team Leader
Location: Wiltshire, office-base at Semington / home working options
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week Monday to Friday plus occasional weekend / evening
Salary: GBP29,323 to GBP31,601 per annum

About the role:

As the Support Services Team Leader, you will manage a team of support workers in the delivery of asset-based whole family support for adult carers, young carers and parent carers in Wiltshire. As a key member of the Senior Management Team, to contribute to strategy and planning for the organisation.

Responsibilities:

- Ensure the delivery of a quality statutory carer support, assessment and review service for adult carers in line with legal, contractual and management requirements
- Develop and implement statutory transitions assessments for parent carers and young carers working alongside carers, statutory partners and key stakeholders
- Work with all partners to co-produce the detailed young carer support pathway from assessment within Wiltshire Council to provision of breaks with a subcontracted partner ensuring that the package meets the needs and outcomes desired by young carers
- Develop a broad portfolio of opportunities and support for young carers which includes mentoring and volunteering, working with internal and external colleagues and volunteers
- Monitor service delivery and outcomes through the Wiltshire carer pathway, ensuring close links with the community connectors team and a responsive service which meets carers' needs
- Management of staff, including bank staff, in line with the PQASSO quality framework
- Develop, implement and monitor all working practices across the team, ensuring staff are trained and competent in safeguarding and asset-based approaches
- Run regular team meetings to share good practice, including that seen through quarterly internal quality audits and carers' feedback
- Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships with partners in adult social care, children and families and public health, including mental health and substance misuse and other Carers Trust Network Partners
- Keep abreast of developments in Adult and Children's Social Care and cascade to team and senior managers
- Ensure the service is accessible to all carers including those from underrepresented and / or vulnerable groups
- Participate in the Senior Management Team, and contribute to the delivery of their strategic aims.
- A flexible approach is required for this role and you may be asked to undertake other duties from time to time

Essential Skills / Experiences:

- Good standard of education
- Social work and / or children and young people's qualifications
- Experience of performance managing a team of staff, including remote workers
- Experience of developing budgets and managing a budget
- Experience of managing sub-contractual relationships ensuring successful delivery of commissioned services to agreed outcomes
- Experience of working with children and young people and vulnerable or marginalised groups e.g. older people, people with a BAME background, LGBT, people with disabilities, people who misuse substances
- Understanding of all age carers' issues and rights
- Good understanding of the Care Act 2014, Children and Families Act 2014, the Children's Act 2004 and other linked legislation
- Knowledge of adults and child and young people safeguarding legislation and policy and procedure
- Knowledge of risk management
- Able to work flexibly in terms of location and occasional evening and weekend work
- Car driver and owner

Desirable Skills / Experiences:

- Further qualifications in management and training
- Knowledge of change management and behavioural change theories and practice
