Fund Raising Co-ordinator
JOB VACANCY: SCT RIDE+STRIDE COORDINATOR
Ride+Stride is Somerset Churches Trust’s main fund raising event that takes place annually every September. The event involves sponsored volunteers walking or cycling between points across Somerset, usually between churches, (or any other activity) in order to raise money for Somerset Churches Trust (SCT). The Trust aims to significantly increase the amount raised by Ride+Stride over future years.
We are looking for a voluntary coordinator to take over responsibility with immediate effect, since Chris Hawkings, who has coordinated the event since 2009, is stepping down.
The principal tasks of the coordinator are:
- To build a team of volunteer ‘Area Supporters’, whose role would be to promote Ride+Stride to churches, individuals, members of SCT, local organisations and other potential participants within their allocated area;
- To plan and organise occasional events in support of Ride+Stride – to include an annual get-together of supporters;
- To work with the Trust’s PR officer in publicising Ride+Stride across relevant media;
The successful applicant must have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. Otherwise, the role does not require any special skills. The coordinator will be supported by a board of trustees who have, or can call upon, administrative, financial and other skills to fully support the coordinator.
The coordinator should have huge enthusiasm for Ride+Stride and a great deal of energy to put into the event.
SCT would like the new co-ordinator to be appointed in early 2018 with a view to coordinating the R+S event due in September 2018.
