COOK ROLE

About the Team and Role

Do you love food, history and the Cornish coast? Can you make simple, mouth-watering dishes with local ingredients in a busy tourist destination? If so, we want to hear from you. Tintagel Castle is situated on a wild and windswept part of the Cornish Coast and is visited by hundreds of thousands of people each year. Our small team works hard to create a great visitor experience for everyone in this dramatic location and our café is at the heart of this. We need a cool, calm and collected Cook to join our busy kitchen from late March 2018 onwards.  We will be looking at applications every week so don’t delay in getting yours to us!

About the Role

You will be responsible for cooking freshly made products, using locally sourced ingredients to produce our carefully designed menu for the site. You will work with the Catering Manager to deliver excellent cooking and presentation standards and to ensure Food safety, HACCP, health and safety and hygiene are exemplary. The role is full-time from April – September. We expect you to work a minimum of 36 hours a week but there will undoubtedly be more hours in July and August. We need you on weekends and bank holidays. You will work 5 days on, 2 off and between the hours of 8.30am and 7pm. There are no split shifts or late nights with this role.

After the season we will be closed for an amazing engineering project – the Tintagel Bridge. Once installed in 2019 we will reopen to the public at Easter and be running a café in throughout the year. The successful candidate in this role will be given first refusal on a year round permanent contract in 2019. A competitive benefits package is on offer including a generous pension, 25 days annual leave a year (pro-rata) and free entry to all English Heritage properties for you, another adult and up to 6 children (under the age of 18).

About the Person

We are an international tourist destination and we have high standards. We need a skilled and motivated person who will work with our friendly and dedicated team to deliver excellent customer service and satisfaction on weekends, bank holidays and through the summer season. In July and August we are fiendishly busy and we need someone who won’t let standards slip just because we are busy. You must be able to manage a busy kitchen safely, produce great food and work as part of a team.

About the Organisation:
