An exciting role working for a national charity.

Our client is a national charity which supports people affected by imprisonment. They provide practical and emotional support to prisoners' children and families, and to prisoners themselves.

Position: Play Worker
Location: HMP Spring Hill
Contract type: Part Time, Permanent
Hours: There are two roles; 2 x 16 hours per month working a 4-hour shift (on a Saturday or a Sunday)
Salary: GBP1,622.40 per annum (GBP16,477.50 FTE)
Interviews week commencing: 29th March 2018

About the Role:

This role will play a part in maintaining positive relationships between prisoners and their loved ones, with the aim of reducing the likelihood of prisoners reoffending through supporting and maintaining family contact. The play service will provide support to ensure that children, families and prisoners are treated with respect and dignity.

Working as a member of the Family Services team at HMP Spring Hill, with a focus on delivering high quality engaging play activities for children visiting the prison to see their loved one.

Working as one of the children's services team, this role will assist in the organising of a daily play facility for children visiting HMP Springhill. You will assist in ensuring that the play facilities operate at an excellent standard in its provision of activities and safeguarding of children at all times, ensuring that activities are suited to the range of children visiting the prison.

About You:

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrable experience working directly with children, young people and their families using an appropriate range of techniques. You will have the ability to relate with warmth and sensitively to people from a diverse range of backgrounds, including children, prisoners, ex-prisoners, volunteers, prison officers, colleagues, and others.

Providing a warm welcoming environment to ensure that children, families and prisoners are treated with respect, dignity and courtesy. You will also have a knowledge of safeguarding/child protection practice alongside a knowledge of data protection and of carrying out risk assessments in a childcare setting.

You will have Good experience and skills of planning creative, relevant play activities for children. You will have good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate empathetic to the needs of prisoners' families.
