Finance Officer Supporting Parishes
Location: Cathedral Centre, 3 Ford Street, Salford, Gtr Manchester, M3 6DP
Salary: £25,250.00 per annum.
Hours of work: 35 hours per week, to be worked between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
About us:
Responsible for the financial arrangements of the Diocesan charitable trust, the finance team centrally administer the statutory management accounts and diocesan budgets alongside providing support to Trustees, parishes and individual parish priests across the diocese. The team are also responsible for the timely payment of invoices and wages, the levying of fees and charges as well as the administration and co-ordination of the Diocesan Gift Aid scheme.
What we’re looking for:
Providing crucial support to parishes, clergy, colleagues and volunteers, the Parish Finance Officer will advise on all matters relating to parish bookkeeping and accounting as well as ensuring the correct accounting of Gift Aid contributions. Liaising closely with colleagues in the finance team, the successful applicant will conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance with relevant regulation and ensure the timely provision of information to parishes and effective oversight of their financial provision.
Skills you’ll need:
Possessing strong interpersonal skills you will have the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of people including trustees, clergy, parishioners and representatives from external organisations. An up-to-date knowledge of financial regulations and reporting is essential as well as experience of using bookkeeping software and excellent IT skills, particularly on Microsoft Excel. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to be efficient and organised when delivering tasks, with a high level of attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
Academic qualifications:
Part or Full (Level 4) membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or professional experience to a similar level.
