General Manager - Holland / Netherlands - Automotive

Our Client is part of a progressive and independent Global Manufacturing Group based in the UK. Due to continued growth and expansion they now seek to appoint a General Manager, responsible for the set up and ongoing operation of a brown field site based near Eindhoven.

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional General Manger, with a background in manufacturing, ideally automotive, seeking a challenge to play a key role in establishing a new flagship European facility.

The role
- Develop the organisational structure and recruit your starting experienced and competent team of 20+ headcount
- Work closely with UK team to oversee the plan to refurbish the facility; install and commission equipment; gain customer process approval
- Lead and promote a positive culture of Health, Safety and Environmental protection, operational excellence and continuous improvement
- Establish best practice management, quality, operational and other systems, processes and procedures, to ensure the company is compliant within the legal framework of Netherlands

The Person

- You will be an experienced and exceptional leader capable of inspiring operations and support teams to achieve exceptional results in a demanding customer environment
- Extensive and successful track record in running, growing and improving operations in a high quality service or manufacturing environment delivering outstanding performance.
- You must be able support the UK-led sales team to win, negotiate and deliver major service/supply contracts with large, international customers.
- You must ideally have a technical background (to degree standard or equivalent in engineering or a similar technical discipline) with significant insights into process / mechanical engineering and proven ability to innovate and improve
- Ideally knowledge of the European truck industry and/or the UK truck fleet aftermarket sector. An appreciation of the development of suitable routes to market in different sectors
- Ideally an understanding of diesel emissions systems and exhaust after-treatment technology
- As an accomplished General Manager, we would expect you are capable of managing a P & L together with the ability to converse fluently in both Dutch and Business English
