This part-time, two days a week (40% fte) post is available immediately on a permanent basis.

The post will support the delivery of all aspects of clinical skills including communication to years three to five of a five year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree.

The post will include delivery of predesigned sessions following the BMBS time table to medical students. You will use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students. You will participate in and develop external networks, for example to contribute to student recruitment, facilitate outreach work, or build relationships for future activities.

You will:

  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by registration with GMC/NMC or equivalent in health care to develop teaching programmes, teach and support learning in this academic area
  • Have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching
  • Ideally you will maintain a clinical post in addition to this teaching post, keeping them as current as possible with the changing nature of healthcare and clinical procedures

Staff at this level may wish to work towards Fellow of the HEA status and to attend formal CPD relating to this.

The campus is a few minutes’ walk from Penryn and only 10 minutes from Falmouth, which is the centre of Cornwall’s creative scene, with businesses, studios, shops and galleries, and great live music across the town. Falmouth’s seven beaches, beautiful rivers and the world-famous marina also make it a haven for those who love sand, sailing and surf. The University will also assist with relocation costs and support where required.

The starting salary will be from £34,520 (pro rata) on Grade F, depending on qualifications and experience.
