Salary: £19,243 p/annum & 2.5% from April 2018

Permanent – 37 hours per week

Housingrecruit.com is advertising for a Housing Support Officer on behalf of our client a leading social housing provider based in Halifax.

Our client is looking for a Housing Support Officer to join the team based out of Halifax, West Yorkshire. The successful applicant for the Housing Support Officer post will be appointed to provide needs based support that enables customers to maintain their own independence including managing and sustaining their housing needs. This work will be throughout the Calderdale Valley area, to work closely with partners to reduce reliance on social and residential care.

The successful applicant can expect their day to day duties to consist of;

  • Maintain regular contact with vulnerable customers requiring ongoing support, based on assessed needs/risk assessment and as reflected in their supporting independence plan.
  • Provide intensive support to customers during times of crisis to respond to short-term needs. To include practical assistance (eg bereavement, during period of ill health, hospital discharge) until such time as the customer is again able to cope independently and/or other arrangements are in place.
  • Work in a flexible and responsive manner, to meet the individual needs of customers, promoting independence, choice, control and safety, with a focus on positive outcomes relating to well-being, health, enjoying life, staying safe and making a positive contribution.
  • Support customers in assessing their housing options during times when there is an alteration in their physical or psychological well-being or in their social circumstances including rehousing.
  • Liaise, coordinate and negotiate with a wide range of organizations, agencies and local community networks to ensure customers needs are met and opportunities maximised (and ensuring the service complements rather than duplicates other services). 

The ideal candidate will have experience of;

  • Experience of working in a customer-focused environment
  • Working with older or vulnerable people or disadvantaged groups
  • An understanding of older and/or vulnerable people
  • An understanding of the roles of other relevant agencies

For this role, you will be required to hold a full, current & valid driving license.

The post holder will be based in Halifax, West Yorkshire, with travel required throughout the region.
