Community Support Team Leader

Following the award of a large contract to support carers of all ages in Wiltshire over the next five years, a number of exciting new opportunities have arisen to join this forward-thinking energetic team, committed to supporting carers in Wiltshire and beyond.

Position: Community Connectors Team Leader
Location: Wiltshire, flexibly based including home working option
Job Type: Full Time, 18 months Fixed Term Contract
Hours: 37 hours per week Monday to Friday plus occasional weekend / evening
Salary: GBP29,323 - GBP31,601 per annum

About the role:

As the Community Connectors Team Leader you will manage the delivery of asset-based specialist all-age carer support services covering designated communities with responsibility for nurturing and maintaining strong partnerships with statutory, voluntary and community-based organisations and volunteers including the military.

Responsibilities:

- Ensure the successful delivery of the work of the Community Connectors
- Increase the recognition, identification and support for carers of all ages in Wiltshire by building strong relationships within health, care and community organisations
- Represent the organisation at a strategic level
- Support volunteer recruitment and retention
- Ensure that the recruitment, performance management, training, development and appraisal of staff are undertaken effectively and that the dispersed workforce supporting carers works within the relevant policy frameworks in line with the PQASSO L2 accreditation standards.
- Develop, implement and monitor caseloads and working practices across the team, ensuring all staff are trained and competent in asset-based approaches
- Run regular team meetings to share good practice, to identify and resolve problem areas, and to ensure good communication
- Monitor the delivery of the service as required by the contract and / or internal management systems
- Complete timely reports as required by the senior management, Trustees, Wiltshire County Council or other key stakeholders / funders, regarding the performance of the service
- Contribute fully as a member of the senior management team, including participating in weekly SMT meetings
- Undertake the Duty Manager role on a rota basis, supporting health and safety / safeguarding within the organisation
- Identifying appropriate sources of information, advice, benefits, equipment and services which carers can access, and updating shared resource information to reflect this
- Actively contribute and participate in publicity events and represent the organisation in a positive manner and to raise awareness of carers' needs
- Possess the essential skills as detailed in the person specification
- A flexible approach is required for this role and you may be asked to undertake other duties from time to time

Essential Skills / Experiences:

- Good standard of education
- Experience of performance managing a team of staff, including remote workers
- Experience of developing budgets and / or managing a budget
- Ability to develop and deliver projects
- Working with voluntary and / or statutory agencies
- Understanding of all age carers' issues and rights
- Good understanding of the Care Act 2014, Children and Families Act 2014, the Children's Act 2004 and other linked legislation
- Knowledge of adults and child and young people safeguarding legislation and policy and procedure.
- Able to work flexibly in terms of location and occasional evening and weekend work
- Car driver and owner

Desirable Skills / Experiences:

- Further qualifications in management and training
- Knowledge of community development, change management and behavioural change theories and practice (e.g. Make Every Contact Count)
