Programme Plans Lead

Location: South West England

Duration: 6 months [initially]

EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY: Sopra Steria is currently recruiting for a Programme Plans Lead to lead the programme plans team, based on site at a key Defence sector client in the South West of England.

The team is part of a large scale programme of work, delivering secure access to information services for users across various locations in the UK and overseas, providing a configurable network that has a single sign-on.

This contract is for an initial six months, with the option to extend for at least another six beyond that.

On client's instructions, due to the urgency, nature and length of the assignment, the successful candidate must have current security clearance to a high level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITY:

The role of Programme Plans Lead [PPL] is to lead and manage the programme plans team so that coherent programme plans are developed and maintained. The team will have responsibility for developing the Main Business Case and will manage the subsequent approvals by initiating delivery projects.

  • Manage the PMP and further develop the PMP to support approval.
  • Act as the secretariat for Management Board and coordinate the governance across the programme.
  • Work with Direct and Assure function to develop coherent MI drawn from single sources and ensure that MI is accurate.
  • Coordinate programme plans across functional teams so that the PCT envelope is managed.
  • Develop and maintain the development plan for the Programme Plan Team so that plans are produced and maintained.
  • Manage the governance and assurance plans.
  • Develop improved ways of working and work with the Direct and Assure function.
  • Deputise as required.

ESSENTIALS SKILLS:

  • Have previously managed large complex technical delivery programmes.
  • Familiarity with delivery of military CIS infrastructure and applications.
  • Experience of MoD acquisition methods and approvals.
  • Have previously introduced change/process improvement into programme organisations.
    • Strong analytical skills that can be used to develop comprehensive plans.
    • Able to communicate complex issues both orally and in written form.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Proven leader.
