Senior Product Development Engineer

Would you like to thrive in a pivotal role in the development and delivery of heavy munitions projects? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Product Development Engineer at our site in Glascoed.


As a Senior Product Development Engineer, you will be involved with the design, development, evaluation, testing and in service support of various munitions products. You will have responsibility for the coordination of activities undertaken by specialist engineers as well as carrying out the project-specific activities defined by project plans/ tasks to develop these products.


This role will provide you with the opportunity to lead a multi-functional team with the responsibility to define and deliver development programmes. The newly redeveloped Glascoed site offers excellent staff facilities and benefits including a gym, football courts, as well as bespoke training courses and support for chartership and higher education.



Your main responsibilities as a Senior Product Development Engineer will involve:


Leading the product design and systems engineering activities for new and legacy products


Ensuring that safety remains the highest priority in the products and processes that are developed and in the working practices of the team


Leading the engineering team to deliver the relevant programmes


Reviewing and managing, on a regular basis, the relevant engineering risks and opportunities within the product areas


Application of effective Engineering Governance throughout the product development lifecycle


Ensuring that all relevant programmes adopt and embody sound engineering processes such as systems engineering into working practices and plans


Support the wider strategic aims of the business through proactive contribution to the development of product strategies, capability plans, improvement plans and other Engineering wide initiatives


Working with project managers and capability leads to establish appropriate teams with the required resources and skillsets to deliver projects



Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Product Development Engineer:


Essential:

Demonstrable design/development experience in the Engineering industry


Experience of leading others on engineering projects


A good understanding of manufacturing techniques and assembly processes


A good understanding of trials, tests and evaluation of products and/or processes


Proven engineering skills; particularly the ability to identify issues, as well as conducting technical analysis of causes and identifying solutions


Desirable:

Chartered status


Safety Management - IOSH Managing Safety/NEBOSH Certificate


Experience of munitions product design and associated manufacturing process


A good understanding of Systems Engineering and engineering design processes and toolsets


Familiarity with the Life Cycle Management (LCM) process

Salary: GBP41,328+ commensurate with skills and experience
