The company is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA); they are members of the Association of Financial Mutuals.

UIA are looking to appoint a new Finance Director to help to build upon the company's strong heritage and to play a lead role in all aspects of the running of the company, contributing to the strategy, growth and future success of the business within a challenging and important sector. This is a high profile role within the organisation - one of two key Board Executive Directors - with significant direct/indirect influence across the wider business. Reporting to the Chief Executive the post holder's remit is to deliver responsive, business-orientated financial analysis to the Board and CEO, providing accurate, timely and transparent financial information and interpretation of that information to support effective business decision-making, and to meet statutory requirements. S/he will have overall responsibility for risk/regulatory, IT and project management functions - these aspect are particularly significant given the organisation's on-going operational and cultural transformation; of which the appointee will play a pivotal role.

We seek an experienced/qualified Finance leader, ideally, within the Financial Services Insurance and/or Mutual sector, with strong commercial credentials. Previous general/personal lines insurance experience would be advantageous likewise experience of having overseen and/or having been involved in the delivery of transformational programmes with an emphasis on IT capability.

The appointment will be subject to PRA/FCA approval and may require an individual to undergo a Significant Influence Functions (SIF) interview.
