CASEWORK SUPPORT OFFICER (Ref: R105)
Based in the NUT Section – Northern Regional Office (Gateshead)
Permanent, full time
Commencing salary £30,648 per annum
The National Education Union is a force for change in the world of education, bringing together more than 450,000 teachers, lecturers, support staff and leaders working in maintained and independent schools and colleges across the UK.
Combining the expertise and experience of both the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) and the National Union of Teachers (NUT), the National Education Union is the largest education union in Europe and the fourth largest union in the Trades Union Congress (TUC). We are an effective and powerful voice – championing everyone who works in education.
We are now seeking to recruit a Casework Support Officer to join the NUT Northern Regional Office Team, based in Gateshead.
The Casework Support Officer will assist the Principal Officer in: providing telephone and written casework advice; undertaking correspondence on behalf of members in relation to their employment; advising lay officers in casework matters; conducting casework research and supporting officers in casework preparation; supporting the work of the union; carrying out trade union organising and assisting with union representative training.
Additionally, you will also assist the Regional Office by undertaking relevant areas of research work, and producing support material on priority issues for the Union regionally, so you will have excellent communications skills, and be able to work both as a part of a team and independently, exercising your own initiative, as needed.
Prospective applicants will need a commitment to the trade union movement and will have gained experience of working in the employment advice field, demonstrating an ability to analyse and apply conditions of service documents and policies. An understanding of the education landscape in England is desirable.
Commencing salary is £30,648 per annum, inclusive of Luncheon Allowance of £978 per annum, together with good conditions of service including 25 days leave, generous concessionary leave at Christmas/New Year and after some bank holidays and a contributory final salary pension scheme.
Further details and an application pack can be downloaded from our website at www.teachers.org.uk/job-vacancies
Completed application forms must be returned to the NUT Section Headquarters by mid-day Friday 02nd March 2018.
