We are looking for a talented Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our growing team. You must have the ability to work on complex products and to work collaboratively and flexibly across several inter-disciplinary teams. If you have Optics and/or Laser experience, even better!
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Assembly and testing of Laser-based Optical Detection products, covering the whole range from simple sub-assemblies, full build assemblies, testing, through to final product configuration.
- Working to build and set-up instructions to produce work of consistent high quality.
- Sub-assembly and Final Assembly testing and recording of results, to ensure equipment meets FAT test requirements.
- Keeping build records for work undertaken.
- Working within a team to achieve business deadlines.
- Working with Manufacturing and Development engineers to improve build quality and efficiency.
You will ideally have:
- HNC or HND in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering qualification or significant experience of assembling scientific instruments or other precision products.
- Experience of working with optical equipment and at least a basic understanding of Optical principles.
- Experience of safe working practices with Lasers in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to technically review a problem and problem-solve.
- “Can do” attitude to difficult or challenging problems.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- Cooperative attitude and able to work with managers and peers to support the needs of the business.
- Desire to maintain and promote a safe, clean, tidy and amicable working environment.
