The MRC Cancer Unit (MRC CU) is a University Department situated on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. It provides an outstanding environment for cancer research, supporting some 10 research groups and ~100 bench scientists.

Applications are invited for a Research Nurse to work as part of an existing, multi-disciplinary team on a trial to investigate the award winning Cytosponge technology to facilitate the diagnosis of oesophageal pre-cancer. The BEST3 trial is funded by Cancer Research UK and the trial is taking place in primary and secondary care. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of cancer research for patient benefit.

The post holder will be based in Cambridge working within an established translational research programme headed by Professor Rebecca Fitzgerald.

The role is an active nursing role with direct patient contact with particular emphasis on recruitment, sample collection, training primary care sites and team working. The post holder will work within an established team of clinicians, researchers, research nurses and administrators and will involve some UK travel for which expenses will be reimbursed.

This post is for one year in the first instance with a latest start date of 1 May 2018 and is a full-time post although part-time hours may be considered for the successful candidate.

The successful candidate must have significant post-registration clinical experience and previous primary care experience is desirable.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check (enhanced with children and adults' barred lists). This appointment also requires NMC Registration and a Research Passport application.
