Aberystwyth University,
Independent Council Members
Set on the stunning west Wales coast, and home to 2,000 staff and 9,000 students, Aberystwyth University has a long and proud academic tradition. Established in 1872, the University today has a modern and lively campus, and is defined by high levels of student satisfaction (top 10 in the UK), internationally recognised research, and a standard of overall teaching which recently led to the prestigious accolade of University of the Year for Teaching Quality in The Times Good University Guide 2018.
In the midst of radical changes to the higher education sector, the University is on the cusp of launching a new institutional strategy which will deliver change and renewal, ensuring it is well-placed to exploit the challenges and opportunities ahead. This strategy will deliver a vision of providing inspirational education and research in a supportive, creative and exceptional environment in Wales. As the supreme governing body, the University Council will play a key role in supporting the University through this exciting phase and is currently looking to appoint a number of new Independent Members. These positions would suit individuals who are passionate about excellence, and ambitious about supporting the continued transformation and development of Wales’ oldest university.
With a strong commitment to education, and to the values, aims and objectives of Aberystwyth University, you will champion the University and promote its activities and strategic aims in the wider community. Expressions of interest from individuals with experience of financial management and/or accounting, higher education, human resources, and marketing and fundraising are particularly welcomed as are applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds.

Prifysgol Aberystwyth,
Aelodau Annibynnol y Cyngor
Ar safle gogoneddus yn edrych i lawr dros Fae Ceredigion, ac yn gartref i 2,000 o staff a 9,000 o fyfyrwyr, mae gan Brifysgol Aberystwyth draddodiad academaidd maith a balch. Fe'i sefydlwyd yn ôl ym 1872, ond mae gan y Brifysgol heddiw gampws modern a byrlymus. Ymhlith yr elfennau sy’n ei diffinio mae lefelau uchel o fodlonrwydd myfyrwyr (un o'r 10 uchaf ym Mhrydain), ymchwil a gydnabyddir yn rhyngwladol, ac addysgu cyffredinol o safon a enillodd iddi'n ddiweddar wobr glodwiw’r Times am 2018 yn y 'Canllaw i Brifysgolion Da', sef Prifysgol y Flwyddyn am Ansawdd y Dysgu.
Ynghanol cyfnod o newidiadau sylfaenol i'r sector Addysg Uwch, mae'r Brifysgol ar fin lansio strategaeth sefydliadol newydd i hyrwyddo newid ac adnewyddu, er mwyn sicrhau ei bod mewn safle da i elwa ar bob her a chyfle a ddaw i'w rhan. Strategaeth yw hon i gyflawni'n gweledigaeth, sef darparu addysg ac ymchwil sy'n ysbrydoli mewn amgylchedd cefnogol, creadigol ac eithriadol yng Nghymru. Bydd Cyngor y Brifysgol, y prif gorff llywodraethu, yn chwarae rhan allweddol yn cefnogi a chynorthwyo'r Brifysgol yn y cyfnod cyffrous hwn ac ar hyn o bryd mae'n dymuno penodi nifer o Aelodau Annibynnol newydd. Byddai hyn yn addas i unigolion sydd ag argyhoeddiad cryf ynglŷn â rhagoriaeth, ac yn uchelgeisiol ynglŷn â chefnogi trawsnewidiad a datblygiad prifysgol hynaf Cymru.
Byddwch yn llwyr ymroddedig i addysg, ac i werthoedd, nodau ac amcanion Prifysgol Aberystwyth, a byddwch yn llwyr gefnogol i'r Brifysgol trwy hyrwyddo ei gweithgareddau a'i hamcanion strategol yn y gymuned ehangach. Mae croeso arbennig i unigolion sydd â phrofiad o feysydd rheoli ariannol a/neu waith cyfrifo, addysg uwch, adnoddau dynol, marchnata a chodi arian i fynegi diddordeb, yn ogystal ag i geisiadau gan unigolion o gefndiroedd amrywiol.
