Duration and time commitment: 14 hours per week (6 month contract) Coram Children's Legal Centre (CCLC) is a national charity committed to promoting children's rights in the UK and worldwide. The Migrant Children's Project at CCLC aims to ensure that refugee, asylum-seeking and migrant children are able to obtain the services and assistance to which they are legally entitled. We provide detailed legal advice, information and training on their rights and entitlements, and on the impact of immigration law on services to children. We also campaign to ensure that laws and policies defend their rights and extend the protections available to them. The Legal Intern would be expected to support the activities of the Migrant Children's Project through legal research, database management and assisting in the preparation of training. The Legal Intern may also be asked to prepare articles, minute meetings and correspond with clients and professionals. To increase access to legal advice for migrant young people and families, we run legal outreach sessions across London. Many of the families and young people who we advise during these sessions would benefit from an application to the Legal Aid Agency for Exceptional Case Funding (ECF). The Legal Intern will assist with applications for ECF on behalf of children, families and young people. The Legal Intern will also help with referring cases on to solicitors and other services as appropriate. Please click on the link below for more information on how to apply Due to limited resources, we will only be able to contact you if you have been shortlisted for interview. Closing date: Monday 5th March, 2018 (9am) Coram is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. We are committed to the safeguarding of children and will require the successful applicant to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure. Registered Charity No. 312278.
