Technical Development Engineer

Broad Role Description:  MRTC provide high quality communication systems for motorsport around the world. We are currently looking for a suitable candidate to fill the following position, based at Stanford on Soar.

This role will primarily involve general and project based assistance to the Technical Director and the driving forwards of new technical developments in motorsport communications.  Fault analysis, resolution and the communication of solutions will be time critical.  Technical support will also be given to the production team, race/event support staff as well as to customers.

Duties:

  • Assistance with new product development and the modification of existing commercial products
  • Testing of new product types for suitability within existing and potential contracts
  • Oversee problem solving on products ensuring solutions are documented and communicated
  • Solving hardware and software issues
  • Circuit board design and testing
  • Production and distribution of wiring diagrams
  • Creation of basic set up instructions for customers
  • Creation of a fault finding aide memoires
  • Creation of technical standards for radio and intercom systems
  • Represent technical department at technical meetings
  • Production and distribution of regular technical bulletins
  • Occasional travel to events to test new products, diagnose and correct technical issues

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • A solid background of knowledge/experience in electrical engineering
  • Basic understanding of electronics
  • General IT skills and knowledge of IP based systems
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
  • The ability to work alone or as part of a team.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Any experience of PIC programming
  • Software programming and networking
  • PMR radio systems
  • Circuit board design and testing

Salary: Dependant on experience
