Our client, a highly successful FTSE250 Plc, operates both in the UK and internationally. They undertake construction and support services for regional, national and global clients. Delivering both individual landmark projects and long term framework agreements, secured on the back of their proven delivery record and partnership ethos.

With turnover in the north-west region now close to GBP100m, the business exec has identified the need to restructure the leadership team across the North of England and appoint a new Regional/Operations Director, reporting to the Divisional MD. The appointed individual will be given significant autonomy and support, but in return, must take full accountability for driving continued profitable organic growth and increasing their market share within the vibrant and highly competitive north-west economy.

As part of a structured succession plan - deputising for the MD, the Regional/Operations Director should be capable of influencing and challenging their peers/heads of discipline across the regional management team, to encourage innovation, drive efficiency and manage-out risk.

To be considered, candidates must demonstrate:

  • A strong operational design & build background, spanning all traditional building sectors, with a track-record of delivering both individual projects and a portfolio of schemes, ideally within the north-west, with project values ranging from GBP3-30m.
  • Their ability to be both strategic, in influencing the direction of the business, together with the operational knowledge to be hands-on, dive into the detail, and ensure maximum value and satisfaction for all stakeholders, from contract conception to handover.
  • Executive potential, having ideally held P&L responsibility for a minimum GBP40m business, as part of an already impressive career record, including periods of continuous and highly progressive employment.
  • A natural gravitas, together with being financially astute, articulate and possessing strong client relationship skills. Ensuring they quickly make an impact and win the confidence of clients, peers and the Plc board.
