Timber Treatment Plant Operator

Rowlinson Timber Ltd is looking to recruit a Timber Treatment Operator based at operations in Gunness (near Scunthorpe).

The role - to efficiently operate our modern / computerized, high pressure plant equipment that would involve:

  • Forklift handling of length packaged timber products
  • General maintenance of plant machinery
  • Manual handling for the securing and strapping of timber packs
  • Basic computer programs for plant functioning
  • Adhering to safe systems of work with the use of hazardous class 8 corrosive chemicals. Appropriate training will be given to the right applicant.

The successful applicant must have:

  • A valid fork lift licence, held for a minimum of 5 years (up to a 7 tonnes counter balance lifting capacity)
  • Experience with the forklift handling of timber products
  • A good knowledge & capability of basic plant maintenance
  • A good standard of numeracy, reading & communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of computerized control systems
  • Be flexible with all aspects to working requests within the role
  • Be prepared to work shifts as required

Package / Remuneration:

  • Basic hourly rate – starting rate £8.16 per hour
  • Time and half paid after 8 hours work
  • Available for weekend work where required
  • Shift allowance (paid where applicable)
  • Weekly Productivity bonus (paid at company’s discretion)
  • Day work 0600 to 1630 hours. Double shift rota - times to be confirmed.
  • A Company Pension Scheme is available after a successful probationary period of employment.

The ideal candidate must be - passionate, self-motivated, reliable, punctual and be able to work as a team player as well as on their own initiative. Reporting daily to the Operations Manager.
