Victim Support (VS) is an independent charity for people affected by crime in England and Wales. We work towards a world where people affected by crime or traumatic events get the support they need and respect they deserve. The purpose of this role is to lead on the recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers, supporting South Wales Victim Focus to realise their aim of helping people cope and recover from the effects of crime. South Wales Victim Focus serves diverse communities, many of whom experience a range of barriers that may affect their ability to cope and recover from what they have experienced. South Wales Victim Focus aims to identify what matters to service users and empower them to take control of their journey. Help and support is delivered through a blend of Victim Focus Officers, Victim Care Officers and volunteers. The nature of service delivered varies depending on individual circumstances and will range from short-term intervention to deal with specific issues, to more regular on-going interventions often addressing complex needs and/or supporting individuals through a lengthy criminal justice process. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager and working closely with the Victim Focus Managers, the post holder will lead on the volunteer offer from South Wales Victim Focus, including the development of targeted awareness campaigns, attending appropriate events, recruitment and retention. The Volunteer coordinator will work with a range of external partners, developing strong links in the community in order to maximise opportunities for volunteer recruitment and retention.Victim Support offers competitive rewards and benefits including pension and life assurance, 25 days annual leave (pro-rata), voluntary benefits such as season ticket loans and the opportunity to play a key role in a national charity providing world-class services to victims and witnesses and being a vital force for change.Applications should be explicit enough to provide good evidence against the shortlisting criteria, which are marked in the person specification as (s).
