Holborn, London

£30,600 p.a.

Full time, Fixed Term Contract for 1 Year

Come and be part of the Faculties department. We look after the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) and the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPMRCA), which are part of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. The FICM and the FPMRCA are the professional bodies responsible for educating, training and setting standards in the important healthcare areas of Intensive Care Medicine and Pain Medicine.

The role and the team:

This diverse role, supporting a number of key areas across the FICM, offers you a fantastic opportunity to expand your experience as well as work in a professional and friendly environment. The role is very varied and you will find yourself being responsible for work streams relating to careers, workforce and recruitment, managing high-level committees, and coordinating events. The role provides an opportunity to develop project support skills through support to new areas of FICM business, as well as membership engagement skills through our Women in ICM initiative and Social Media channels.

The successful applicant will join a busy department of seven, which sits within the Royal College of Anaesthetists, which has over a hundred staff members.

The Faculties operate like Colleges in a microcosm and we are therefore responsible for activities across the whole range of College activities. All administrators have their own areas of responsibility and expertise as well as shared areas but everyone mucks in when required!

The Applicant:

We are looking for a bright, confident individual with highly developed administrative skills who will thrive on the challenge of balancing competing and shifting priorities in the constantly changing worlds of education and the NHS.

The successful Applicant will have:

  • solid committee experience (including minuting)
  • experience of handling administrative work of a considerable variety and volume and prioritising successfully under pressure
  • some experience of supporting or organising long-term and complex events, which may include projects, courses or examinations
  • outstanding communication and organisation skills
  • a keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • a drive to proactively improve systems and quickly develop key working relationships with internal and external colleagues and clinicians
  • good IT Skills, including; Word, Outlook and Excel
