Are you interested in plants and agriculture?
Do you have a good eye for detail and a flexible approach to work?
Would you enjoy a varied working environment?
NIAB is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic Trials Technician to assist with delivery of the DUS and Seed Certification programs. Work is focused around the assessment and description of plant varieties and involves sample handling, trial set-up and drilling, recording of plant characteristics and crop inspections.
The role is highly varied and involves extensive field work, along with associated office, laboratory and glasshouse duties. Outside work takes place in all seasons and some tasks are physically demanding.
NIAB is keen to speak with self-motivated candidates who possess strong communication skills, a proven ability to deliver as part of a team and an eye for attention to detail. A relevant degree in agriculture, agronomy or plant science is desirable but may not be necessary for the right individual.
Previous experience in running field trials and/or data collection in an outdoor environment would be highly advantageous but full training will be provided. The position requires a current full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to trials and crops away from NIAB HQ.
Starting salary will be in the range of £18,532 to £20,591, dependent on skills, experience and qualifications.
