Independent Lay Member

Patient and Public Engagement (PPE)

The Bristol North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) CCGs are merging and an exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Governing Body of the new organisation, which will come into effect from 1st April 2018.

The merged CCG, with a membership of 89 GP practices, will serve a population of a million people. Our mission is to make healthcare better for everyone that lives in BNSSG. We will do this by putting people’s needs at the heart of our decision making and ensuring that the voice of local people shapes what we do as we seek to get the very best value from the resources we have available.

We are looking for an Independent Member of the Governing Body to be the champion for patient and public engagement, chairing our Patient and Public Engagement Forum. You will also be a member of other Board Committees.

Independent Members bring their specific expertise and experience, as well as their knowledge as a member of the local community to the work of the Governing Body. Your focus will be strategic and impartial, offering oversight and scrutiny to the work of the CCG, which is removed from the day-to-day running of the organisation, with the aim of ensuring we use all our resources to provide the best possible health for our population. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience of working at Board level, preferably in a non-executive role.

If you are passionate about improving the health of people across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, putting quality at the heart of health care and helping to secure a resilient and financially sustainable future for the health and care system, then we would welcome an application from you.

The role will require a commitment of up to 5 days per month and will be subject to a contract of services for an initial term of 3 years. The day rate will be negotiated within the range of £340 - £375 subject to skills, experience and qualifications

Should you wish to discuss the role informally then please contact: Julia Ross, Chief Executive on 0117 900 2397
