Toolmaker/Machine Builder

Your primary role will be to work within the manufacturing team, machining components using all available
shopfloor equipment, including: saws, milling machines, lathes, grinders and EDM equipment. You will be expected
to work to the required times allocated and to achieve the required tolerances and quality.
You will also be expected to support the requirement of machine building and commissioning. Working to a high
standard at all times.
The company is introducing 5S and as such you will be expected to have good housekeeping and maintain a
clean and safe environment at all times.
Area of Work
Your principle area of work will be in Bowburn but you may need to support our activities for
installation, commissioning or modification on a customers site, which could be anywhere within the UK.
When working off site you may need to use your own vehicle, so you must ensure your insurance covers business
use. All mileage will be paid in-line with the government guidelines, currently GBP0.45/m for the first 10,000 miles
and GBP0.25 there after.
Reporting
You will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor and Engineering Manager.
Probationary Period
You will join us on an initial 3-month probationary period.
Working Hours
Your standard working hours will be 07.45 - 16.30 Mon - Thurs and 07.45 - 12.45 Fri (38 hours)
Altec Engineering currently operate a single shift as detailed above but in the future we may introduce a second
shift that you will be expected to work as part of a rotational pattern.
To support the companies needs you will need to work overtime when requested, which may include starting
early, finishing late and weekend working.
Remuneration
Your starting salary will be GBP25,747 (GBP13.03/hr)
Overtime will be paid at the standard overtime rate appropriate at the time
Holidays
25 days plus statutory days
Notice Period
Following your probation period, your notice period will be 1 month
