Homefinder Officer (2 year fixed-term contract)
Location: Civic Centre
Salary: £26,687 - £27,760 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (banking 30 minutes per week towards the shutdown at Christmas and New Year)
We are looking for a Homefinder Officer to work in our busy team, to focus on promoting the Council's Financial Incentive Scheme to attract private landlords, letting agents and partners to procure properties within the private rented sector to assist those that are in housing need.
The Homefinder Officer is also responsible for the placement of homeless applicants in either Council owned or externally provided temporary accommodation. To carry-out a quality inspection programme to ensure properties used by the Council meet the statutory health and safety requirements. Also responsible for the day to day management and processing of the Housing Needs Register from registration through to the offer of accommodation.
Qualified to GCSE A-C in English and Maths, or equivalent, applicants need to be able to demonstrate front line Local Authority housing or private sector housing experience. Have good literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
The successful applicant will be required to work out of normal office hours on occasion, and carry out home visits.
