SAICA are an award winning, family owned business that provide packaging solutions to customers around the globe, from the initial design, manufacturing, supplying to customers and then, because we are so environmentally aware, recycle the material to run back through the process. And, we are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join our plant in Thatcham.

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager the successful Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for providing electrical and mechanical planned and reactive maintenance support across a wide range of cardboard manufacturing equipment. This position would suit an individual who is ambitious and is looking to develop their career in a fast paced environment. The successful candidate will receive full training for the role.

Job responsibilities of the Maintenance Engineer:

- All electrical maintenance including PLC controlled systems, fault finding, single and three phase supplies in addition to machinery and diagnostic repairs

- Working to PM schedules, monitor machine performance (OEE), downtime and analysis for performance improvement

- Utilising CMMS software (Maximo) to record reactive and preventative maintenance tasks as required

- Identifying critical spares for designated machines and refurbish spares as required

Skills, knowledge and experience required by the Maintenance Engineer:

- Qualified multi disciplined engineer with a City and Guilds (Electrical) or equivalent

- Minimum of 5 years post apprenticeship experience

- 17th Edition desirable

- PLC, FMCG Environment or experience in the corrugated or paper industry would be advantageous

- A self-motivated individual with an organised approach and excellent communication skills

- Ideal candidates will have excellent problem solving skills, a logical thought process and the ability to communicate at all levels

- A proactive and flexible approach with a positive work ethic

Maintenance Engineer working hours:

The working hours will be on a 3 shift pattern:

- 6/2  Mon to Fri

- 10/6 Mon to Thus

- 2/10 Mon to Fri

- 42 hr week

These will rotate in the above order. You will also be required to do 11 weekends per year 12hr Saturday and 12 hr Sunday 06:00 to 18:00.
