An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the South East Regional Counter Terrorism Border Policing Team as an Intelligence Researcher, and be part of the UK's efforts to protect our borders from those seeking to threaten the national security of the country. Applications are sought from individuals who are interested in making a contribution to this vital area of counter terrorism policing. This is a Sussex role based at Gatwick Airport and will require shift working.
If successful, you will be responsible for completing high quality and timely research of various internal and external sources in connection with the operational requirements of the department/force/partner agency. The role requires you to provide effective research products for staff involved in intelligence and operational work.
The successful candidate will undertake in-depth research of information to inform decision makers and collect / collate information from a variety of internal and external sources. You will identify and develop potential new sources of information, evaluate the information for its reliability, validity, usefulness and any consequent impact this may have upon the research. You will need to prioritise information for action and maintain a full audit trail for each piece of research. You will obtain, update and manipulate large data sets, both numerical and text and be able to produce this using a variety of computer tools including (but not limited to) databases, spreadsheets, geographic information systems, social media tools and data visualisation software, highlighting patterns, anomalies and irregularities in the data.
This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home.
