To support the growth of our business, our Finance function is also growing and we are now recruiting a new Discipline Management Accountant who will report to the Assistant Financial Controller (AFC) on a day to day basis.

Your Role

This role requires an experienced accounting professional with a background in contract accounting in a fast paced environment.

A key part of the role will be to challenge Project Directors and Project Managers on the financial performance of the various contracts under review and to be able to discuss and analyse financial results with non-financial managers.

Finance plays an important role in delivering support to the business and the implementation of controls and procedures and the diversity of WYG is reflected in this role with the main responsibilities including;

Business partnering role working closely with Project Directors / Managers;
Leading monthly project reviews with Project Directors / Managers to ensure a high accuracy of reporting and that the process is completed to strict deadlines;
Working with Project Directors / Managers to formulate a monthly earnings (WIP) position to take on each contract;
Challenge Project Directors / Managers on monthly earnings, invoicing to clients, contract profitability and utilisation;
Further focus on costs incurred, costs still to come and producing cost to complete schedules on contracts;
Providing variance analysis and project performance results on request from the Discipline AFC and Discipline FC;
Acting as bridge between central finance functions such as Credit Control and Accounts Payable and the operational business within your remit. As such you will be responsible for;
Supporting credit control in the recovery of client debt;
Co-owning with Project Directors / Managers the rolling forecast of future earnings per contract;
Ensure execution of the order book in hand is accurately forecast; and
Support bids/tendering activity as required;
Engage in any other activities that could support the growth of the UK business.

About You

In order to be considered for the post, candidates should have the following;

Must be studying towards CIMA or ACCA;
Excellent MS Excel skills, with strong knowledge of the use of pivot tables and look-up;
Be able to demonstrate professionalism and a dedicated approach to achieving deadlines;
Excellent communication skills and be able to communicate at all levels across an organisation - not fazed by dealing with senior people both within and external to WYG;
The ability to challenge and influence at all levels within the organisation;
Be a self-starter and naturally motivated as you will be left to work on your own once established;
Not be afraid to ask difficult questions / challenge the status quo / look to improve the efficiency of the way we do things;
Be able to work well under pressure, especially as regular deadlines approach e.g. month end but also at infrequent intervals at short notice i.e. Budget preparation and tender preparation;
Be able to travel to meet the needs of the business and work at other company locations on a temporary basis to fulfil your duties.
