Actuarial Pricing Analyst

Here at Old Mutual we are recruiting for a Actuarial Analyst to join the Product team in Southampton.

As a Actuarial Analyst you will support the International Pricing Team in pricing and product maintenance / minor upgrades of all existing and new non-protection products, pricing deals for distributors, product testing and product migration work.

Key Responsibilities and Scope of role:
  • Should be able to carry out elements of the Pricing Actuary roles as cover for these positions due to illness or leave
  • Works with the Pricing Actuaries to regularly monitor profitability and business mix for existing open products as well as closed products, including versus competitors
  • Drafts signoff documentation required by the Pricing Actuaries, documentation of pricing bases and changes, and documentation of processes followed and systems used
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of pricing systems, including recalibration where necessary
  • Informs management of the product lines through the production of insightful MI reports
  • Responsible for testing following new product developments, re-prices or migrations (includes user acceptance testing)
  • Deals with ongoing technical queries from the other areas of the business in line with agreed parameters and procedures
  • Supports the Pricing Actuaries with modelling of distributor and segment profitability
  • Supports the annual profitability review process
  • Active role in supporting the Pricing Actuaries to monitor existing business (including risk mitigation and management) and perform the product lifecycle management process
  • Performs experience investigations into major business drivers, including persistency, asset management margin, and expenses

Qualifications required:
  • Part-qualified actuary: significant progress in the actuarial exams towards FFA/FIA or equivalent

Experience required:
  • Good understanding of investment & retirement product features and competitive pricing approaches
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Industry awareness and exposure
  • Experience of insurance pricing and capital models and related software, as well as of the process of setting and revising pricing and valuation bases
  • Highly analytical while retaining a commercially-focused outlook; hands-on approach and can-do attitude
  • Team player, with strong results focus and high levels of initiative and innovation; able to collaborate across different areas of the business
  • Great communicator, with ability to build strong, long-term, mutually beneficial relationships
