This is a broad role with ownership and responsibility from day one. Digital and written communications will be a central part of all activities. The aim is to develop and deliver information and resources in a range of formats across appropriate channels to achieve the organisation’s goals of reaching more people, self-care education, advocacy and knowledge sharing.

The post holder is responsible for writing, updating, designing and managing the production of information and marketing products – in coordination with the supervision of the Head of Communications and Marketing – to increase the understanding of, and engagement with our Bristol Whole Life Approach to self-management education for people affected by cancer. This role has an explicit responsibility for account managing the work of the Services team, the Penny Brohn Academy and Research and Evaluation team.

You will use your outstanding copywriting, editorial and management skills to harness the power of great storytelling and make our content accessible, searchable and spreadable.

You will have the credible expertise required to educate and influence key stakeholders around best practice for user-centred content that meets our strategic objectives. You will also provide support and guidance to content producers around the organisation, leading by example and sharing best practice.

Previous Communications or PR experience, ideally within the 3rd sector is desirable but not essential, or relevant transferable experience suited for the role. Ability to motivate, inspire and gain trust of both team members, and key stakeholders is also required.

We do this through residential courses, group sessions and 1-2-1 complementary therapies. We work in partnership with many major healthcare providers and our services are underpinned by evidence based research.
