Policy Support Officer (Ref. P61675)

This new full-time post is available immediately on a permanent basis within the Student Cases team.

The starting salary will be £26,495 per annum on Grade E

The Student Cases team provides an ‘end to end’ service for the management of student cases through close joint working with our Education and Student Services directorate and academic Colleges, and a strong partnership with our legal team.

Student Cases support the University’s corporate and College strategies in delivering internationally excellent education by ensuring fair, transparent and legally sound processes for the management of student cases (academic appeals, academic misconduct, complaints) that are applied consistently across the University and meet the expectations of regulators and the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA). The team provides expert advice, training and policy development to assure the University of compliance with the requirements of regulatory bodies and relevant law, specifically the Consumer Rights and Equality Acts.

The role

  • Responsibility for the management and consideration of student cases at the College level, matrix working with college Education Business Partners in managing risk in the processing and consideration of cases, and reporting to the Head of Student Cases, to provide a dedicated  casework service
  • Line management responsibility for a small team of casework administrators 
  • Supporting the development and review of the University’s policies, procedures and guidance governing student casework, working with other Professional Services Staff and academic staff across the University to ensure consistency in their application and that they meet the expectations of external regulators

You will have a high level of initiative, the ability to synthesise information and reach reasoned decisions on the evidence available and work effectively with a wide variety of colleagues from across the University.
