MQ: Transforming Mental Health is the first major charity funding much-needed scientific research to transform the lives of everyone affected by mental illness. And with our community of supporters and an international network of talented researchers we can make this a reality. Volunteers are at the heart of MQ's fundraising efforts. As we grow and expand, we are looking for a driven and creative individual to lead this vibrant community. This role will work to uncover new valuable volunteers and secure vital funding from their networks, particularly those within our rapidly growing corporate supporter base. This creative fundraising post will also play a key role in developing systems and collateral to empower our volunteers and spur them on to greater height. Summary of key responsibilities: Volunteer discovery and activation Being the primary point of contact for all external MQ volunteers, including their induction, training and ongoing-support Proactively researching and approaching new corporate opportunities within our volunteer base Securing first contact meetings for the fundraising team. Leading on and managing key volunteer events, including fundraisers and awareness sessions Building fantastic and authentic relationships with all our volunteers and maximising the use of their talents Systems and collateral development Creative lead for MQ systems, collateral and toolkits for enabling and empowering our volunteer communities Supporting the MQ team in continuing to evolve our volunteer offering with an aim of being best in sector Aiding the development of our wider fundraising strategy, and representing the voice of our community to the whole team Contributing to MQ as needed, as part of a small fast group of energised and visionary mental health activists Required skills: An understanding of and empathy with the values and work of MQ Transforming Mental Health. Knowledge and understanding of the mental health sector Proactive attitude to seeking new business and opportunities Comfort working with people from different backgrounds Excellent writing and communication skills Ability to prioritise and re-assess work flow in a busy environment Personal qualities Strong belief in the value of volunteering, volunteers and activism Keen to contribute towards a vision of transforming mental health Empathetic and sensitive towards people experiencing mental health conditions Pragmatic and positive in approach Experience: Impeccable personal manner and relationship management ability Experience of working in the charitable/not for profit sector, particularly with volunteers, preferred Demonstrable ability to produce high quality work under pressure and to deadline Demonstrated ability to work in a professional capacity with varied audiences Accurate, well-presented word processing Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite Familiar with IT hardware and common software applications An understanding of and empathy with the values and work of MQ: Transforming Mental Health. Knowledge and understanding of the mental health sector Qualifications Degree or similar level qualification
