We are looking for a gifted communicator with the skills to tell the incredible stories behind our work in a way that will inspire people to support and become part of it. The applicant will produce a diverse range of creative, compelling content that helps VSO meet its organisational goals. It will communicate the powerful contribution that volunteers make and the stories of people at the centre of our work around the world. This busy role involves sourcing, researching and producing content for a range of digital and print audiences, from volunteers to major donors. You'll be as comfortable writing an issue-led magazine feature as a fundraising email and understand how to adapt case studies for different formats and purposes. You will proactively ferret out compelling leads and develop them into fully-realised case studies that can be used across the organisation, as well as responding to specific briefs from across VSO. Your work will support VSO to meet fundraising, recruitment, media and programmatic objectives. You'll have the opportunity to develop in your role and make a real difference with your work In addition to producing original stories, you will adapt existing content, including that produced by others, to suit a range of different formats and audiences. You will respond to requests for support with developing content, and support the Content Team in making sure all stories, photography and film is carefully archived. Excellent research, writing and interviewing skills are a must, as is creativity and attention to detail. Knowledge of photography, video and audio production is very desirable. The Content Producer works within a small immediate team, and collaborates closely with colleagues in other teams and around the world. You will be expected to travel and attend events as required.Skills, qualifications and experienceYou will be a creative and proactive professional, used to working under your own steam and overcoming obstacles for yourself. You will use your experience in journalism or a related communications field to come up with innovative ways to tell stories, rooted in a strong understanding of audiences, their needs and motivations. You will be a confident interviewer and an excellent writer, with some experience of producing multimedia content for different channels and formats. You will be able to manage a varied workload, collaborate with others and meet challenging deadlines. You will understand the critical need to tell stories in a sensitive and ethical manner.
