Yacht Broker: Boat Sales person

Nr Henley on Thames

£30-£40,000 + Bonus

Job Purpose

An exciting role for an experienced salesperson to join the boat selling operation of a dynamic family business.

The successful candidate will be driven for success, joining a highly motivated and thriving team representing the company in the sales of new and used craft of up to £400,000 value, both in house and at local and regional boat shows.

Experience in boat handling is preferable, however training is available for novices who are motivated to learn.

Duties and Responsibilities

Sales:

  • Ensuring excellent customer service in all contact with customers, over the phone or face to face
  • Obtaining instructions to sell used craft
  • Writing boat specifications and taking photos
  • Maintaining the database for boats and client updates (including calls /emails)
  • Following up clients from new and past leads
  • Ensuring all craft are fit for sale: correctly priced, in the right condition
  • Cleaning of sales boats as required and reporting any further requirements
  • Matching the right boat to the customer’s requirements
  • Conducting viewings of all new and used craft
  • Facilitating negotiations between Vendors and Purchasers
  • Closing sales, taking deposits, and managing paperwork of new and used sales
  • Keeping all parties in a transaction informed of progress
  • Customer river trials & handovers
  • PDI on crafts prior to surveys
  • Preparation of all craft prior to handover (new or used)
  • Reporting on current status of all potential clients
  • Being aware of all stages of used craft that are in negotiation to assist where needed
  • Independently running of the sales office when necessary
  • Managing after sales processes 
  • Participating in boat shows in set up, promotion, sales and breakdown

Marina:

  • Assisting as required in marina work, including, but not limited to, boat cleaning and movements, antifouling, polishing, driving tractors and use of other machinery
  • Collection & delivery of craft
  • Participation in Winter lift / Spring re-launch of craft
  • Ensuring personal compliance with company H&S rules and regulations

Other:

  • Independently covering Reception/Sales/Marina as required
  • Use of till for accurate cash and card sales
  •           Assisting with gas sales and slipway fee services
  •           Ensuring offices are in a clean and presentable condition and advising of any defects that cannot be corrected immediately.

Skills required

-          Excellent verbal communication skills with a professional and engaging telephone manner

-          Excellent written skills

-          Ability to build strong relationships within a team and with customers

-          Computer literate, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, combined with ability to acquire other skills as necessary

-          Excellent accuracy and attention to detail in communications and paperwork

-          Ability to negotiate a fair sale in the interests of the company and our clients

-          Motor boat handling (training is available)

Full driving license

5 days per week, including a Saturday with occasional participation on other days at Boat Shows
